Pokepath TD

What Is PokéPath TD?

PokéPath TD is a tower defense game created by fans, playable directly in your web browser. It is based on the Pokémon universe. Instead of fighting in turns, Pokémon act as defensive towers along a path to stop waves of enemies.

The game mixes:

  • Mechanics for tower defense games, like Bloons TD 6
  • Building a team and evolving like in Pokémon
  • Systems for idle and long-term progress

You collect Pokémon, place them strategically, level them up, and evolve them over time to handle increasingly difficult waves.

How to Play

At its core, the gameplay loop looks like this:

  • Start a Stage: Enemies follow a fixed path toward your base. Your goal: stop them before they reach the end.
  • Place Pokémon: Each Pokémon acts like a tower with unique attack styles and types. Positioning is critical for maximizing damage.
  • Earn Resources: Defeating enemies gives currency. Use it to deploy more Pokémon or upgrade existing ones.
  • Upgrade & Evolve: Strengthen Pokémon during or between runs. Some evolve into stronger forms with better abilities.
  • Progress Over Time: Even when idle, you may gain resources or improvements. Builds long-term progression beyond a single match.

Game Controls

Controls are simple since it’s browser-based:

Mouse Click

  • Select Pokémon
  • Put them on the map.
  • Improve or change units

Place Pokémon exactly

UI Buttons

  • No complex keyboard inputs—it's designed for easy, casual play.

Strategy and Team Building

Balance Your Team

Don’t rely on just one strong Pokémon. Build a mix:

  • Single-target attackers → for bosses
  • AoE attackers → for groups
  • Support units → buffs, slows, or utility

Use Type Effectiveness

Just like classic Pokémon:

  • Electric beats Water
  • Fire beats Grass

But here, it’s about coverage across waves, not just one battle.

Focus on Placement

Where you put Pokémon matters as much as which ones:

  • Corners and turns = more attack time
  • Long straight paths = consistent damage
  • Choke points = ideal for AoE

Upgrade Smart, Not Fast

Instead of spreading upgrades thin:

  • Focus on a few key Pokémon early
  • Build a strong core before expanding

Plan for Scaling

Early-game power isn’t everything:

  • Some Pokémon scale better into late waves
  • Evolutions can dramatically change usefulness

Adapt to Enemy Waves

Different waves may include:

  • Fast enemies
  • Tanky enemies
  • Swarms

Adjust your setup accordingly instead of using a fixed strategy.

Take Advantage of Idle Progression

If the game supports idle mechanics:

  • Reinvest earned resources
  • Optimize long-term upgrades
  • Return stronger each run
